During their initial purchase using TapBuy, shoppers' billing and shipping preferences are stored in TapBuy's "server side wallet." Mobile shoppers can then check out in any TapBuy-enabled app from any merchant simply by confirming their PIN. This eliminates the hassle of having to reenter information, including addresses and credit card information, on small mobile devices, and TapBuy said in early trials, this increased conversion up to 15 times. The company explains in detail how the service works on this TapBuy.net page. A Software Developer's Kit (SDK) is available for licensees. TapBuy was founded by Amazon.com veterans Blake Scholl and Jason Crawford and is seed funded by angels investors including Naval Ravikant, SV Angel (Ron Conway) and Owen Van Natta, and it has received a strategic investment from the Washington Post Company. |
