eBay Adds New Shipping Badge to Seller Listings
By Ina Steiner
eBay is adding a badge to listings from Top Rated Sellers who offer fast and free shipping. The "Fast 'N Free" badge will appear on listings that offer free shipping and are determined by eBay to be likely to be delivered to a buyer within 4 business days.
eBay will consider a number of criteria in estimating delivery dates, explaining, "The estimated delivery date is calculated using a number of factors including historical seller performance, the proximity of the buyer to the item, the historical performance of the shipping carrier, seasonality, and other factors."
eBay will begin testing the eBay Fast 'N Free badge on 30% of traffic starting in late October and plans to ramp up to all traffic for eBay Top-rated Seller listings in mid-November. eBay will consider ramping for all sellers in December 2011.
eBay is also running other incentives for offering fast and speedy shipping during the holidays. Sellers with a standard or above performance rating will get an added advantage in Best Match sort for Fixed Price listings offering the following: an expedited or one-day shipping service, 1-day handling, and a 14-day or longer return policy. In addition, eBay will give sellers 20% off Final Value Fees for all transactions with a free expedited shipping service with 1-day handling between Thanksgiving Day and Christmas.
