eBay is adding Facebook buttons to the top of listings so shoppers can "like" specific listings. But eBay continues to prohibit sellers from linking to Facebook and other social networking sites.
Facebook Like buttons began appearing on the top of listings in postcards and in fashion categories on Saturday morning. eBay had not widely announced the new feature, but had told attendees of its eBay OnLocation event in Las Vegas last week that it was actively working on putting more "Like" button on the site. eBay also tweeted from the event, "Smart social media strategy: put a link to your facebook page in your listings." However, this violates eBay's own linking policy. On the policy page under "Other Links," it specifically prohibits linking to social networking websites such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter.
