PayPal Says eBay-Related Glitch Is Resolved

Email This Story to a Friend

Users began noticing a strange problem last week when they made payments through PayPal - individual names were appearing as recipients instead of the businesses to whom they were sending payments. For example, when sellers made payments to eBay for postage labels or seller fees, PayPal sometimes displayed the name "Richard Brezovec" as the recipient instead of eBay Inc.

The problem appears to have started on January 26, and some eBay sellers were concerned that their payments to eBay were ending up in someone else's personal account.

PayPal acknowledged the problem on Friday, writing, "We are aware that some customers are currently experiencing issues on their account history page. Recent transaction activities may show an individual's name instead of the merchant's business name. Please be assured that transactions are not affected." PayPal said the problem was resolved on Saturday.
