Overstock.com to Open New Software Development Center
By Ina Steiner
Overstock.com announced that in early 2011, the company will open a Software Development Center in Utah County. The company expects the center will employ 150 technologists, 100 of which it expects to bring aboard within 12 months.
Overstock.com President Jonathan Johnson said, "We have more innovation in the pipeline than we have developers. Utah is home to many incredible technologists, and this new office gives us access to more of them. Overstock.com is pleased with the incentives that the Governor's Office of Economic Development and the City of Provo offered because it made a difference in our ability to continue to grow our business in Utah by opening this new facility."
In addition, Overstock.com will pay $5,000 to individuals referring qualified software developers which the company hires. Qualified developers must speak Java fluently, possess a degree in Computer Science, Math or Engineering, have at least two years of experience developing software, and stay employed at Overstock.com for at least 90 days.
