The transaction was an asset sale - Versata has acquired the Transact ecommerce platform and the brand name Infopia. The parent company will change its name and will continue to market the Enterprise eCommerce Analytics product with a software development team under the leadership of Coleman Barney, President and CEO of Infopia. Versata is a privately held enterprise software company that wanted to add ecommerce to its suite of offerings that include ERP and content management. The new Versata-owned Infopia will remain in Utah and will cross sell the ecommerce platform to its existing enterprise clients. The move gives Infopia the opportunity to move into a higher end arena, according to sources. The companies have not yet announced the transaction, more information will be available on Friday. Update: Versata published a press release about the acquisition on its website. |
