eCrater Sales Up over Long Holiday Weekend
By Ina Steiner
eCrater said sales on its system over the holiday weekend were up significantly from last year. Sales on the site, which is both a free web store builder and a free online marketplace, were up 101% on Thanksgiving compared to 2008. Sales were up 72% year-over-year on Black Friday, and were up 53% year-over-year on Cyber Monday.
Founder Dimitar Slavov said eCrater did not conduct special promotional activity, but said some sellers used the new Google Checkout feature to offer holiday discounts for transactions processed by Google Checkout.
