Amazon launched Windowshop.com on Friday. The new site is an interactive experience for shoppers who can quickly scroll through product images, listen to sample MP3 songs, preview movies, and hear descriptions of books. Windowshop.com showcases bestsellers and new releases in Books, Music, Video and Video Games. Each Tuesday, Amazon will add new content, and the older content will move to the right. A description of the site reads, "We've taken out the text and created an immersive experience to help you lose yourself in exploration. Trailers for bestselling movies. Insight into the hottest TV shows and video games. Track samples from Tuesday's new music releases. Audio reviews of books you should read. Amazon Windowshop lets you get a taste of many titles." Every product has a direct link to Amazon.com where shoppers can purchase the item. Friday was also a big day for Amazon with an appearance of its CEO Jeff Bezos on the Oprah television show. Oprah endorsed Amazon's Kindle reading device, giving a free Kindle to everyone in her audience and telling them the $359 device would pay for itself and save paper. |
