USPS Click-N-Ship Tracking Problem?

To the Editor:
I (according to USPS .. I'm not the only one) am having a problem with USPS click N ship .. I fill it out .. I insure, I want Sig. PM .. print .. pay .. it used to say (when you tracked) something like "package expected 10/2" .. now I am getting .. "Label/Receipt Number: - - There is no record of this item."

Anyway, thought I would let YOU know :) Keep up the SUPER work!

yes I am getting that also. I think it's a global problem and this will make buyers very anxious. I am glad it is systemic and hope they know to fix it soon.

Adding 4206 8048 940 to the begging of my 055 DC number tracks 2 out 3 I am trying to track.  Thanks to the ebay board link, I tried this.

I shipped 5 items last Wednesday priority mail and none are showing any record of it. They are insured but it doesn't even look like I brought it to the post office so it's not the best news. Some people may say they never received even if they do receive it. These items are not expensive usually under 200.00 insurace but none are showing. On eBay forums someone said that they post office gave a reply that they are "vaguely" aware of the problem and will fix it. Let's hope so.

I just saw this post on AuctionBytes and tracked a pkg I shipped Monday by Priority.. NO STATUS available. I also tracked a pkg I shipped today and it had that pkg's info, so not even consistent. Government-run enterprise at work.. Hope we don't suffer any losses..

FYI - for tracking DC numbers starting with the new 0550 digits, try just adding 94 to the beginning. Worked for all pkgs I've sent since 10/2/09. (easier than adding those other 10 digits mentioned in the ebay thread)

I had the same problem, call USPS Track & Confirm yesterday 10/06, lady on phone said she has no info on any DC# problems, no info on the my DC number, had no idea where my package was, and said, just wait it out, it will show up as deliveried. Several times she all she stated was "it's Delivery Confirmation, not Tracking, It will show when deliveried" then hung up on me. All I wanted to know was, is there a problem with DC via USPS site.

I just tried Steve's adding 94 to the beginning of 0550, guess what, Delivered, October 05, 2009, 8:52 am, 2 days ago, and USPS had no idea where my package was yesterday.

Thanks Steve for the 94 tip. It works!  I was so frustrated with lack of info...and fretting about my customers concern over lack of shipping status. Now I'll simply manually insert the 94 number in front of all 0550 DC numbers and hopefully eliminate the problem. Thanks again.

Tracking numbers provided by USPS does not work.
If you  used click n ship you need to add
the numbers '94' before your tracking number and it will work.

I just tracked delivery on one of my previously mentioned packages, and couldn't find it, even with adding the extra #'s mentioned in the anonymous post.. then I remembered this string, came back and found your info.  No help on USPS' site though, not surprisingly; your tax dollars hardly at work.. Thank you for the information with the 94 fix, seems the USPS has added two more numbers to the track number and was not emailing them or recording them correctly in the shipping history. i shipped an I tem Saturday and the email and history correctly recorded the Del Con tracking number. I hope thei means its fixed

Same thing happened with me when using Click N Ship. Called the 800 #. Very apologetic but never once mentioned this was some type of internal glitch.

CS Rep., said to file a claim against my local PO. I just figured the box had not been scanned.

Did receive email from USPS today stating that it had arrived to the destination. Good thing I didn't jump the gun and mention to my customer that there was no information on the shipping status and to let me know when it arrives. Could have left me wide open for a charge back! Bad enough it was going to a buyer that thought shipping should be free.

Yesterday took another Ship N Click box to the PO. I wasn't going to take the chance that the box wouldn't get there. Wasn't aware there were others having this problem.  Will wait and see if the same happens. Guess, it might (not be)  a good idea to enter the buyers email on the form for shipping update.  Could cause a lot of problems if the buyer doesn't see any updated shipping info.

I've had postal theft twice before. One as a buyer and one package as a seller. I thought maybe, the box didn't get to the PO.

It had been my understanding the PO scans the packages upon arrival to the PO brought in by the carrier. Possibly the PO doesn't see a need to scan packages with the Click N Ship label.

Whatever, I am very hesitant to use Click N Ship for future mailings!

All my tracking numbers started with: 9405. So that doesn't seem to make a difference for tracking my orders.

I received email from USPS.com today, informing me of the problem and the 94-prefix solution. They said it occured from 1-Oct to 20-Oct, and that as of 22-Oct their database would be corrected with the 94xxxxxxx Tracking #'s, so we should be able to look up those shipments now. Thanks All !
