Is eBay Preparing a Cloud Service for Seller Photos?

By: Reader

Sponsored Link

Dear Ina,
It looks like eBay is preparing to release new Cloud Photos functionality based on the navigation bar on the left when viewing the page that shows non-compliant listings that include contact info (link).

Here's how to find it:

eBay has recently started sending messages to sellers with this subject line: "Immediate action required. Remove active content and/or contact information from your listings."

Within that message, there is a link to "View listings with policy violations." When viewing the resulting page, there is a section on the left navigation area entitled "PHOTOS" and within that section there is an inactive link to "Cloud Photos" as shown in the attached image.

Signed,
Paul DeLeo

Just another dream of Fleecebay. The idiot in the ivory tower are over thinking everything now a days. Maybe they should think RETIREMENT before the titanic sinks.

More likely the Cloud reference applies to sellers who use for photo hosting.

More likely the Cloud reference applies to sellers who use it for photo hosting.  Ebay already hosts photos for those sellers who upload photos to ebay.

I use Go Daddy to host my pictures

eBay needs to add video's to the listing options, they could charge .25 cents and make a killing.

I pay Go Daddy for hosting pictures, why not pay eBay to do the same thing?

Oh this one is too easy.  Yes, please do pay them to host your photos.  And like all of their other here today and gone tomorrow schemes, when they decide to close it down you'll find that you no longer have access to your photos.  Poof! Gone with the wind!

It's like Ming said--"eBay, the untech company".

I received that same message via email today but not through eBay messages. Upon clicking upon it, it asked for phone numbers so a buyer could contact a seller after a sale. The page didn't look right so I clicked away and called eBay to ask what they were talking about regarding Immediate action required. "Remove active content and/or contact information from your listings.". The rep told me it wasn't sent from eBay and it was spoof or phishing email.

Will they allow videos again?  I esp. think videos are helpful for electronics stuff.  Prediction:  EB is going up in fees....countdown, 3, 2, 1.

NO WAY! ebayafia gets way too much of my money now. They're not getting another cent from me. I store my photos with a free service, where I know they won't mysteriously disappear. And those stupid messages about removing active content, blah blah blah blah blah - I took care of that months ago & am still getting those messages. ebay, where tech support doesn't exist.

Are pictures hosted on Godaddy considered "active content"?

Not only No but Hell No! Don't let eBay 'do' anything for you that you can do for yourself. Look at that gawdawful Global Shipping Program, or the recent 'we listened to you so now you can't combine shipping' fiasco.

Tool obviously doesn't/can't remember when ebay DID charge to host photos . As I recall, it was 15 cents per photo beyond a small number so generously allowed for free and then they invented what they called Picture Pack which was 5 photos for a set amount.

This money grubbing resulted in a minimal number of photos sellers were willing to upload which in today's bayspeak would "degrade the buying experience."

If Tool wants to pay ebafia for photos, let him send them a check. I'm already paying ebafia more and more for less and less and will go NO further,

@ Ming

I don't want to pay for photo's but I do now so why not pay eBay instead of Godaddy. (ebay gives 12 pictures for free)

What I do want to pay for is the option of having videos in my listings.

The sound of an air tool drives men crazy ~ LOL

ebay has no other options but to squeeze more money out of sellers they have nothing else, they were robbed of paypal, and every other venture has been a failure,
