eBay Bugs Hit Business Policies and Automation Rules

A reader reported a problem with eBay Business Policies - you should be able to view all of your listings that have a specific policy, but sellers are reporting that's no longer the case, making it impossible to view and edit them.

As eBay explains, Business Policies are the payment, shipping, and return details you specify for buyers in your listings. It's powerful, since you can have one type of return policy for new items, and another return policy for one-of-a-kind items.

The feature helps sellers streamline new listing creation (you can assign a new listing a certain return policy, for example, without having to copy and paste it into the listing form), and if you want to tweak a policy for a certain type of product, you can do so without having to edit each listing.

Two sellers reported the problem on the eBay discussion boards as well. On Saturday, the original poster explained that for the past couple of weeks they had been unable to view the respective active items under each Business Policy.

"EXPECTED OUTCOME:  In "Business Policies" section of the Seller Hub, when clicking the numerical-value link to the far-right column of listings in the respective policy, the respective individual active listings with the respective Business Policy should display as a result (IE: If a seller has a Shipping Policy named "Free Shipping" with 50 items linked to that policy, clicking on the "50" should deliver the user to a search page with only those 50 individual listings properly filtered and selected from all Active Listings.

"ACTUAL OUTCOME: Instead of displaying listings properly filtered by the respective Business Policy, the user is dropped on the Listings page showing ALL active listings without any filters."

The seller even posted a screenshot to illustrate the problem.

A reader also reported problems with Automation Rules, reporting they are not working in Seller Hub as they had in Selling Manager Pro. According to their Ecommerce EKG report: "Seller Hub - no way to now tell if an item has an Automation Rule assigned or not as was able to in SMP."

Has anyone else experienced these problems, and have you found a workaround? It sounds like a Herculean task to edit listings without these features working.

Just another Ebay glitch. They will admit to it in about a year and then fix it after that. Ebay has lost all creditability with sellers.

Had a customer service rep tell me this morning if I didn't like it then I should move on as its ebays playground and I will play by their rules or get banned. Time to move on.

I have been using Seller Hub for months.
I noticed that the Automation Rules were no longer visible in the Manage Active Listings View about 4 weeks ago.  I have complained weekly to eBay CS and left comments at the Seller Hub.  If one has a store with a lot of items and mixed rules, the removal of Automation Rules visibility is a disaster.  eBay seems to be disconnected with what sellers really need.

A bit off topic, but the Seller Hub is missing search functionality that I used to rely on in Selling Manager Pro. The ability to filter listings based on Custom label (SKU) is not available. This is a huge problem for me and results in me having to log on two different browsers to do certain queries. Numerous requests over several months have yielded nothing. I really don't think that a new tool should have less functionality or fewer features than the old one. If someone from eBay actually reads these comments - please please please add this functionality to the advanced active and sold listing search.

Unless and until Wall Street really starts hammering ebafia for its incompetent, shoddy programming and highly unstable platform, these problems will continue.

Ebafia doesn't give damn and would blather about AI.

Ebay :
In all of my long time favorite vintage / antique categories, it's all junk. Nothing but acres and acres of junk.

I use InkFrog and not eBay to revise or change those in bulk. If you have multiple accounts IF is the only way to go they make it so easy.

We did notice that ended listings s
how show automation rules but not active. This is potentially catastrophic for those who understand the implications.

eBay's latest ''improvement'' to Seller Hub as of August 31 was to ELIMINATE bulk editing from the listings view.  FUBAR!!!!
