Nominate Your Favorite Online Marketplace

One of the most popular features we've run on AuctionBytes during the past 11 years has been our "Sellers Choice Awards." The Sellers Choice Awards allow sellers to rate their favorite online marketplaces in five important areas - Profitability, Customer Service, Communication, Ease of Use, and whether or not you would recommend the venue to other sellers.

The results got a lot of coverage, since this was the first time that marketplaces had been rated in this fashion. (After all, the marketplaces and shoppers rate merchants, so it was about time sellers were allowed to rate the marketplaces!)

The Sellers Choice Award still get hefty traffic from merchants who are looking for alternative sites on which to sell. In January, we'll be holding the 2nd annual Sellers Choice awards, and are making a couple of tweaks to the process. First, we'll be expanding the field from 15 to 16 choices. We'll also be running a "primary" poll through the end of December that will allow merchants to nominate their favorite venues to be included on the final ballot (the Sweet Sixteen) for voting.

If you want your favorite marketplace to show up on the final ballot, it's important that you nominate them to appear. We've expanded the selection, and have also included a write-in slot for any venue not appearing on the ballot. If you want to make sure you can vote for your favorite marketplace in January, please make your nominations right away. Remember, there are only 16 available slots, so not every marketplace will make the final cut!

(Note that if you click the link after already making your nominations, it will take you to AuctionBytes.com.)

Once we've selected the marketplaces based on your feedback, we'll send out the official survey in early January, so you can rate the marketplaces - the results of the 2nd annual Sellers Choice Awards will then be published in late January.

With more sellers than ever going multi-channel, we expect a huge turnout, and are excited to see which marketplaces have improved since last year - and be sure to tell your friends and colleagues!

Got turned on by fellow home crafters and artists on eBay to Etsy

Have yet to list, but love the easy to set up, reasonable priced, customer service oriented, and friendly atmosphere.

Not sure where sellers of other products have gone.

As the local market of retail stores that bought my items dry up, I will have to jump in and make a go at it soon.

I'm with Rick.
Amazon is simply a great venue for selling music, DVDs, toys, games, and of course books.

Amazon has been my eBay replacement for quite a while.
And my inventory gets listed at NO PER LISTING COST.

In all fairness, I have to give eBay a lot of credit.  Had they not been such jerks to sellers, I never would have tried Amazon.

ArtFire. No Fees for listing, ever. Really reasonable monthly cost. Admin really bends over backwards to make the site work the best it can for us. If I were just on my own I would never get exposure like this. Sellers are very enthusiastic about ArtFire too. Congenial, friendly online culture; very welcoming to new sellers.

Hi Ina, is it 11 years or 2 years?

In the eleven years that we've been publishing AuctionBytes, last year's first annual Sellers Choice awards feature was the most popular feature we'd run, hope that helps explain it.

The 2011 Sellers Choice Awards will be its second year.

Alibris.com is our fave. Very friendly and easy to use. Lots of buyers & sellers of Books, DVD, CD's, video games, all types of stuff. The more the creeps at ebay screw their users the better we do.
I just think the new or small seller doesn't know about all these other (and better) options.

eBay takes all your profits, and doesn't offer any seller protection. Amazon has a very limited selling category. The rest of them don't run auctions, and they don't generate enough traffic to make it worth while.

So, I vote for none of the above.

Artfire.  Definitely.  I make a living doing handmade on Etsy, but as they prepare to go public I see moves toward their sellers that resemble the evil empire that we all know and despise.  While as sellers we are allowed to accept checks, money orders, Paypal has been the only allowed checkout on Etsy, which always made me feel a bit uneasy.  And guess what...?

Artfire is altogether different for handmade and vintage.  Like ebay to Amazon, Etsy is chasing their proven hardworking sellers over to Artfire.

Artfire has in place all the necessary tools Etsy inexcusably DOES NOT on top of everything else.  There are multiple payment options available.  The list just goes on and on and on.  It doesn't hurt that it is pleasing to the eye, either!

Hey, we've learned.

Also, I like Bonanza.  It is a steady growth and I make periodic sales and I am not even really working that venue very much.

I also like Amazon.  You cannot go wrong selling on Amazon, especially during the holidays!

"Ebay"

All of the eBain troll jobs are due to be outsourced to India in 2011.

Unless you are thinking about relocating to Calcutta, perhaps you should be contemplating another line of work.
