eBay logoeBay is making it easier for sellers with a Shopify-powered store to list on its marketplace. Merchants will soon be able to list and sell their products on eBay directly from their Shopify account, eBay announced on Thursday. The integration for US sellers is expected this fall.

eBay press release follows:

eBay Inc. and Shopify Inc., the leading cloud-based, multichannel commerce platform, today announced that Shopify merchants will soon be able to list and sell their products on eBay directly from their Shopify account.

With the new integration, Shopify merchants will have the opportunity to surface their brand and products to a massive new audience of more than 169 million active eBay buyers. eBay shoppers will benefit from added selection and choice from potentially hundreds of thousands of Shopify merchants.

This integration will also enable Shopify merchants to immediately sync inventory information such as product title and description, item specifics, price and quantity from Shopify to eBay. Customer orders will also be imported to Shopify and allow merchants to fulfill orders from both platforms in one location, while messages from buyers on eBay will also be visible within Shopify so their sellers won’t miss any important communications.

“eBay is focused on delivering the best choice and selection of inventory to buyers across the globe,” said Bob Kupbens, VP of Global Trust & Seller Experience, eBay. “This new integration with Shopify will bring even more great products to eBay buyers, while offering Shopify merchants the ability to seamlessly drive their business and brand at scale by tapping into our vibrant marketplace.”

This integration continues to make selling online easier for Shopify merchants to conveniently manage their product catalog across multiple channels like online, in-person, marketplaces, social and messaging all in one dashboard.

The eBay channel joins the fast-growing list of other Shopify sales channels, including Amazon, BuzzFeed, Facebook, Pinterest, Messenger and retail via Shopify’s Point of Sale, among others. These integrations are possible because of Shopify’s Sales Channel Platform, a collection of APIs that can be used to add commerce to any site, app, or platform. Sales channels are an important part of a Shopify merchant’s business strategy, and more than 60% of merchants sell in two or more channels.

“Shopify is the industry leader when it comes to multi-channel commerce, and we look to partner with the best and biggest platforms to bring new sales opportunities to our merchants,” said Satish Kanwar, VP of Product, Shopify. “The eBay channel has the potential to introduce our merchants to eBay’s millions of buyers, exposing merchants to a massive number of new sales opportunities.”

The eBay sales channel is expected to be available in Fall 2017 for Shopify merchants selling in USD in the United States.

    BOB: WHO TALKS LIKE THIS?

Anyone that hitches their “Shopify Wagon” to the broken, warped, mangled Ebay, is apparently just LOOKING FOR a way to lower their income, pay MORE in fees, and lose even more placement in search.

    This Bob is really something.

Now he’s every Shopify sellers partner.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  2. Favorite excerpts from the above Ebay / Shopify / Partner Bob statement:

—“Shopify merchants will have the opportunity to surface their brand and products to a massive new audience of more than 169 million active eBay buyers.”
(Incuding all the buyers that Ebay allows to steal items from sellers, and never get bad feedback!)

—“eBay shoppers will benefit from added selection”
(That would be the selections that Shopify sellers TOOK WITH THEM when they left Ebay!!)

—“selection and choice from potentially hundreds of thousands of Shopify merchants.”
(Yeah, Ebay claims 25 million sellers, but they NEED Shopify sellers. Just tell me one thing……… HOW WILL THEY EVER EVEN GET SEEN??? – Will they be the chosen few that have access to a SEARCH ENGINE THAT WORKS???)

—“enable Shopify merchants to immediately sync inventory information”
(WHAT? Would ANYONE be DUMB enough to sync their inventory to a BROKEN SYSTEM like Ebay???)

—“Customer orders will also be imported to Shopify and allow merchants to fulfill orders from both platforms in one location”
So a Shopify seller wouldn’t have to be “ON” Ebay at all huh? “So, like, what do you call selling on Shopify instead of Ebay???” Answer: “A good start”)

—“messages from buyers on eBay will also be visible within Shopify”
(So I could say: “Come to my Shopify store. That way, neither one of us will have to deal with Ebay”. But the smart money says Ebay will HAVE to throttle THOSE messages. You already prevent Ebayers from talking to their customers. HOW DO YOU SQUARE THIS with your current purge of sellers, that you think are selling “ Off of Ebay”? Bob: There is SOMETHING wrong with your logic).

—“while offering Shopify merchants the ability to seamlessly drive their business and brand at scale by tapping into our vibrant marketplace.”
(HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!) (WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN???)

—“This integration continues to make selling online easier for Shopify merchants to conveniently manage their product catalog across multiple channels like online, in-person, marketplaces, social and messaging all in one dashboard.”
(I can’t TAKE ANYMORE OF THIS TALK!!! And PLEASE GOD, let it not be Ebay’s dashboard)

Bob, I have some more to say, but I just have to rest a bit. I am ALL worn out. Maybe someone else can finish the rest of your announcement. Say, you didn’t mention how Ebay would “Benefit” financially from this relationship….. Care to elaborate? Have you mentioned the answer to Shopify sellers??? HOW COULD YOU FORGET TO MENTION THE “SMALL” FEES YOU WILL BE GETTING???
